Reconnecting to Life After Cancer: Build and Use Personal Strengths

  • Pathways Healing Center Minneapolis 3115 Hennepin Avenue South Minneapolis, MN, 55408 United States (map)

DESCRIPTION

In this course you will be invited to discover your personal strengths and experience exercises to apply how to use them in new ways to increase happiness and self-empowerment. So often our focus is on improving our weakness. In this course you will learn why it is equally, if not more powerful, to focus on the personal character traits that come naturally to help us through our life experiences.

GOALS, BENEFITS, & RISKS

If I were to ask you to list five things about yourself that you are working on or wishing to change, could you come up with them? Chances are you had thought of two before you got to the end of the sentence! What if I were to ask you to list your top 5 strengths? For many of us it is difficult to highlight what is good and right within us. However, the way you use your strengths - individually and collectively is what makes you unique and special. When things are going well, we can use character strengths to help us see what is best in ourselves and others. When things are going poorly, we can use charter strengths to give balance to the struggles we face and shift our focus from the negative to the positive and avoid becoming overly self-critical by thinking about our strengths rather than what is wrong with us. Your character strengths support you and support others. What you will discover is how you can use your strengths to be your best self, the person you most want to be. This course is meant for those in the after-cancer phase and their caregivers.
